WHO WE ARE

Our Story

How it all started...

The charter for Kawkawlin Community Church was signed in April of 1921, and construction of the church building began on June 21, 1921. From the very beginning, the founders were driven by a deep passion to be “an effective witness to the love of God made known to us in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.”

They stood firmly on the Word of God and the doctrines of the early Church, desiring to live out their faith in obedience to Scripture. Their vision was simple yet powerful: to establish a place where believers in the Kawkawlin community could gather to worship, glorify Jesus Christ, and proclaim the gospel.

Expanding the vision...

For many decades, Kawkawlin Community Church remained faithful to that original calling. Yet as the world around it changed, the church encountered new challenges. In 2022, KCC found itself without a pastor and experiencing declining attendance. Questions naturally arose about the future of the church and its role in the community.

During this season, God faithfully provided a group of interim pastors who helped discern that a new direction was needed. Through prayerful leadership and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, significant constitutional changes were made, and a renewed vision began to take shape—one that extended beyond the borders of Kawkawlin Township.

Where we are headed...

In the fall of 2024, Kawkawlin Community Church was replanted as Foundation Church. With this replant came a new Statement of Faith and a strategic plan focused on a fresh work God is doing through His people. In a time when many are deconstructing their faith and walking away from the church, Foundation Church is committed to standing firmly on the Word of God, with Jesus Christ as our cornerstone.

We move forward with a clear mission: to Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples of Jesus Christ, trusting that the ancient truth of the gospel still changes everyday lives.

We also acknowledge that the story of the Church—like the story of Scripture—is one of broken people being redeemed by a holy and gracious God. It is often messy, filled with repentance, restoration, and renewal. Yet we rejoice that when God’s people confess, turn from sin, and seek Him, He redeems.

Our story is not ultimately about how good we are—but about how good God is, all the time.
